On December 7, 1918, seven major consumers of paper products in Hawaii formed the Honolulu Paper Company. It had grown to be the largest and finest equipped paper house in the Territory of Hawaii.
Boise Cascade Corporation acquired the Honolulu Paper Company (Hopaco) in June of 1964. Already an established distributor and retailer of office products and stationery in Hawaii, Hopaco continued to provide personalized service to individuals, government, and businesses of all sizes throughout the Hawaiian islands.
Boise Cascade Corporation purchased OfficeMax in December 2003. The merger of Boise's Office Solutions division with OfficeMax combined the strength of a national retail leader with the service and support you've come to expect from Hopaco.
Today, the merger of Office Depot and OfficeMax offers Hawaii unmatched selection, fast delivery, and ordering conveniences. Expert help is available in-store for Tech Services, Print+Copy, Pack+Ship, and Shredding +Storage.
Hopaco Office Depot OfficeMax has undoubtedly evolved over the past 100 years. This monumental achievement would not have been possible without the support of our customers and business partners.
Here at Hopaco, investing socially is important to our company. One of the ways we do this is through a program called "A Day Made Better®." Help is given to teachers and underfunded classrooms in Hawaii's diverse communities.
In 2013, 14 teachers in schools from Hilo to Honolulu received 1,000 dollars each.
Put simply, people do. Our communities do. So, Hawaii, we salute you and continue our commitment to our neighbors and colleagues. Together, we can make a huge difference.
We understand that businesses here are dedicated and doing what they can to succeed in difficult times. We're proud to do our part, yet we're not here to promote the number of jobs and dollars that Officemax® infuses into Hawaii. We'd rather tell you about how we got here and how we invest in tomorrow.
Why? "Since running a successful global business is only one part of the equation," says Daniel Zettle, VP and managing director, Hopaco Office Max. "It's complete when we remain dedicated to our hometowns and give back".
Diversity matters to us. When you come to Hopaco, you're buying from a company that recognizes the importance of supplier diversity. We've been named the 2009 Corporate Partner of the Year by The National Association of Women Business Owners.
We continue to support and improve the livelihood of businesses owned by women.
